Here are a few snaps from our trip to The France Show at Earls Court yesterday. It's open on Sunday if you fancy dropping in and, while it's mostly about French property and travel, there's plenty to keep a foodie happy too. You can try out some tasting dishes from Mon Plaisir and Cafe des Amis; try fine wines and champagnes at tutored tasting sessions; and feast on some of these Gallic treats...
Fresh bread, super-sticky cakes and eclairs from Le Bon Pain.
Tucked behind the crepe stand, try out some awesome charcuterie. We loved the duck sausage.
Jean-Christophe Novelli hosts cookery demos throughout the day, so check the show guide for times. Here he is doing something obscene to a chicken. We tried to get a snap of the finished dish but got distracted by the sizzling bangers the lads at Supreme Sausages were serving up nearby.
Seriously good cheese and plenty of Gallic charm from the guys at La Fromagerie.
Tip: Double wrapping is essential if you're buying Vacherin and getting the tube home!
Er, more bread. We recommend the pain de compagne lightly toasted.
The sweet and savoury crepes, courtesy of the Pancake Man, are well worth queuing for.
The decidedly un-French but always delicious offerings from The Garlic Farm.
There were more cakes, plenty of pâté, and gallons of wine around but as we learned from our trip to the BBC Good Food Show last year, you'll have to battle your way through the ravenous freebie hunters to get to them. Still, we came away with some nice (if pricey) goodies.
All the details are on The France Show website if you want to go tomorrow, or you can wait and pre-register for free tickets to next year's show.
