Ever wondered what the london-eating team do at the weekend? Well, this Sunday we were suffering from 'restaurant fatigue' - a condition which, you'll be pleased to know, rarely lasts longer than a few hours - so we did a bit of home-cooking. Inspired by our recent meal at Yalla Yalla, here's our Lebanese feast.
On the big platter, there's a pile of fragrant pilaf studded with toasted pine nuts, coriander and parsley. In the centre, there are fried onions and peppers which are hidden by our tasty chicken shawarma (which was marinated in a blend of spices, lemon juice and olive oil and then grilled).
In the three-holed dish, there's salad, home-made hummus, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh and er... taramaslata. (We know that's Greek but it was too delicious to exclude). In the bottom left corner, you can just about see the sauce for our shawarma, which was a simple blend of yoghurt, lemon juice, garlic and a spoonful of tahini.
We devoured the lot, washing it down with plenty of vodka-lemonade spiked with mint and honey, but luckily there was some chicken left over for lunchtime pitas today. If you'd like any of the recipes, leave a comment below or email us here. We love to swap cooking tips!
