Alexa Perrin has launched the Experimental Food Society- an organisation which will showcase ground-breaking gourmet artists. Featuring an online members directory, a series of talks and an annual Spectacular; members will include jellymongers, one‐of‐a‐kind dining conceptualists, cake artists, food landscapers, and chocolate sculptors to name a few. At the first Spectacular in September, the culinary artists will showcase their finest works and the evening will culminate in a grand banquet where guests can feast on the edible artworks. Check out the website for more info and sign up to their events mailing list.
Boundary Rooftop will be open from Good Friday (2nd April), weather permitting, so keep your fingers crossed. If it’s sunny this Easter weekend, head for Shoreditch and check out the grill restaurant and bar, which has seating arranged around an open fireplace. The rooftop garden was designed by Nicola Lesbirel and is accessible via a lift. You can chill out under the sail-like canopy (or huddle under cosy blankets if it’s cold) and enjoy 360-degree views of London, from Canary Wharf to the City, the East and beyond.
From 3rd April, Covent Garden’s Real Food Market returns to the Piazza. Every Saturday, foodies (and backpack-wielding tourists) can pick up home-grown produce from traders like The Great British Sausage, Polish Deli, Sporeboys and food blogger Eat Like A Girl. The Food Bloggers stall will be back for another year and on Saturday 3rd April, the market will host a special ‘Tasty Hour’ from 3-4pm where visitors can sample market treats for free. Check out the Covent Garden website for details or follow them on twitter, @CoventGardenLDN.
The Lexington, our favourite bourbon bar in Kings Cross, is now running its own kitchen (without help from the ETM Group). The menu has been revamped to include American favourites like BBQ ribs, New Orleans gumbo, quesadillas, burritos and more. They are running ‘all you can eat ribs & wings night’ on Wednesdays (5pm-8pm) – you pay £10 for a half-rack of ribs, 5 wings and fries and they’ll bring a new plate for every one you clear! Keep their lunch deals in mind too - £5.50 for a burger or sandwich, fries and soft drink. Check out their listings page for gigs and rock ‘n’ roll bingo.
New Openings: Raymond's new City restaurant, Brasserie Blanc; The Old Brewery in Greenwich; Rosa's new Soho sister site; Mono Libanais on Brewer Street; Ed's Diner (Euston); and many more.
