From October 17th, the Cookbook Cafe will host their inaugural Peruvian Gourmet Food Festival – a riot of authentic flavours, traditional music and plenty of Pisco Sours. The festival’s guest chef is Virgilio Martinez of Central restaurant in Lima – a name foodies are sure to become familiar with when he makes his London debut in Shoreditch next year.
The festival will take diners on a journey through the culinary history of Peru to demonstrate how the region’s cuisine evolved and how it was influenced by Spanish soups and stews, Arabian sweets and desserts, and African contributions to Creole cooking. Chef Martinez will showcases dishes from his restaurant like hot ceviche of shrimp and seabass with charcoal and araza, and grouper tiradito with rocoto, tubers, naval avocado and chalaca. The dishes are best accompanied by the infamous Pisco Sour, a Peruvian cocktail made with the fermented juice of different varieties of grapes.
The Peruvian dishes will be available at lunch and dinner until October 23rd and a special weekend brunch will be held featuring live musical entertainment. For reservations or more info, please call 020 7318 8563 or email hello@cookbookcafe.co.uk.
