This April, Tsuru Sushi will be celebrating the Japanese tradition of ‘hanami’ or flower watching during the cherry blossom season. In the Spring, families and friends in Japan gather in parks to enjoy picnics and parties under the falling blossoms. To celebrate this London-style, Tsuru’s City and Southbank restaurants will be serving a special picnic menu of authentic Japanese dishes and a cherry and sake cocktail.
Available from 5.30pm for a minimum of two people, the picnic menu is priced at £20 per person and can be eaten in the restaurants or taken away for an early evening picnic. You might struggle to find cherry trees in the City but a sunset stroll and an alfresco supper on Southbank sounds like a winner to us.
The picnic menu includes miso soup, nigiri and futomaki sushi, cucumber and wakame salad, sake and ginger cured salmon, tempura prawns, chilli rice and the latest addition to the Tsuru menu, their Scotch egg. To drink, choose between the cherry sake cocktail or a glass of pink sparkling wine.
