Salt Yard at The Nomad cinema – This summer, the Salt Yard Group (Salt Yard, Dehesa, Opera Tavern) will be pairing up with roaming cinema, The Nomad, for a series of pop-up film events in Queen’s Park. You can try their gourmet movie snacks on August 18th and September 8th and 22nd when The Nomad will be hosting open air screenings of cult favourites The Goonies, The Graduate and The Big Lebowski. Salt Yard Group’s recently launched catering arm will be serving dishes like Iberico hot dogs with romesco sauce, caramelized onions and mustard aioli; Iberico burgers with manchego and guindilla peppers; homemade ice-creams; and popcorn in smoked paprika and cinnamon and lemon flavours. Yalla Yalla’ Southbank pop-up – From June 1st to August 31st, Lebanese street food specialists Yalla Yalla will host a pop-up Bedouin-style tent on the Southbank. Diners can relax outside or get cosy inside under the draped ceiling and enjoy Lebanese lounge music, drinks and shisha. Yalla Yalla will be serving their excellent wraps, mezze dishes, dips and salads to eat-in or take-away. The pop-up will be open daily from 10am to 10pm behind the Royal Festival Hall.
Ken Hom at Benares – Atul Kochhar’s Benares restaurant continues its guest chef season this summer with the legendary Ken Hom from 6-12th June. Ken will be working alongside Atul to create a unique menu which will be served in Benares’ bar. Dishes will include spicy grilled lamb satay, fried wontons with sweet and sour dipping sauce, and crackling rice paper asparagus rolls.
Hawksmoor’s Express Menu – The wallet-friendly express menu has proved so popular at their Seven Dials restaurant that Hawksmoor will now offer it at Spitalfields and Guildhall too. The menu is available before 6pm so it’s ideal if you’re popping in after work or dashing off to the theatre. Priced at 2 courses for £22 or 3 for £25, it’s an absolute steal with a choice of three mains - grilled free range chicken, pearl barley with spring vegetables, or a 250g rib-eye plus a side dish of your choice. For an extra three quid, it’s worth leaving room for desserts like rhubarb and apple crumble, honeycomb cheesecake or their delicious sticky toffee sundae.
Lobster Night at Cabana – For one night only, diners can enjoy a whole spicy Malagueta lobster, fries, a house salad and a Brazilian caipirinha for just £19.95. Lobster night will be on May 19th at Cabana’s Covent Garden restaurant – ideal for a pre-theatre seafood feast.
